I owned a CubCadet RZT 50 for 11 years and was the best mower I’ve ever had… That is until I bought the Ultima ZT1. This mower is robust, tough, mows like a dream and is comfortable to ride. I bought mine in May 2019 after I wore out my RZT 50 and, man, has Cub Cadet went to the next level. It has cut my time spent mowing.. It has cut my time spent mowing in half. This is an update to my earlier review. After 20+ hours cutting my 2 acres with the ZT1 50 everything about it is great. I have no issues on slopes and the cut looks great every single time. I have zero issues with deck vibrating or starting that others have mentioned. Over all this is a GREAT product. Great machine , handles easy , a 5 Except don’t do slopes well. Great mower, I cut a section of the yard at my new house that was let go it was 8 inches tall. With the depth cutting dial it was easy to adjust heights as I cut it down over a few passes. Love that the lap bars are fully adjustable. Love the deck height adjustment. There are a few things holding me back from giving this 5 stars, though. My biggest complaint is that the deck only has 3 points of contact instead of 4, affecting deck stability. The deck wash system is so-soyou’ll still have to scrape the deck from time to time. Four-ply instead of two-ply tires would have been nice. Also, would it have really been that hard for Cub Cadet to include a seat cable to keep the seat from falling forward when accessing the battery and fuel tank? It’s standard on the ZT2, but I think it’s something essential and should be standard on the ZT1. Metal springs instead on ABS plastic under the seat would have made for a smoother ride. I was told a zero turn mower would not handle the ditch. But, this mower has been able to keep the ditch well manicured by using the easy height adjustments. This is important due to the amount of rain we’ve had recently. I have a few acres with multiple obstacles and have cut my time 40 per cent compared to a 48 inch deck tractor. The owners manual from Cub is sort of chintzy but engine manual is o. Much improved over previous generation ZTR mowers. First use was awesome. Seat is especially comfortable as is the foot deck mat. Speed was very fast, cutting height selection was so easy and so many grass height levels to choose from. I really like the LED headlights for the fall nights coming soon. This mower got much better traction than my other ZTR, no more left rear wheel spinning. Only things I would change would be to have an easy-adjust seat (kind of a hassle to take bolts out to adjust it) and the handles have too far of a throw to get to top speed. Cub Cadet Ultima Zero Turn Terrific Mower. The Ultimate Zero Turn 50′ mower is a truly excellent mower and does a significantly better job of creating a nice, level grass cutting. It is easy to start and very easy to adjust the cutting height with a foot pedal and dial.
